SOUL OF THE MIDWEST
I am currently in Quincy, IL. America’s Heartland, preparing for tonight’s Soul Salon. What a wonderful place! I have met so many inspiring creative people in the short time I have been here. So welcoming! On Monday I arrived by train from Chicago, after doing two Soul Salons up there (thanks to Peggy Burns and Sharon Burch who both hosted the Salons – one on the Southside and one on the North).
While in Chicago, I slipped away with my two sisters to St. Joe, Michigan. Beautiful spot right on Lake Michigan. I also had an opportunity to spend time with several childhood friends who came to my Soul Salons. Reconnecting after 30 years, we gabbed so long into the night, we had to SLEEP FAST! Thank you all for coming and your hospitality while I was in Chicago. It was delightful to feel the support of my family and professional friends for the work I am now doing. Looking forward to chatting by phone or SKYPE when I return to Nevada next week and booking Year Ahead or Color Readings for many of you.
Back to the Heartland. Spending time with my oldest brother, Jim Burns, has been a real joy. We really flowed into an easy rhythm after the hustle & bustle of the big city. Quincy is really laid back, yet experiencing a resurgence of energy I hadn’t felt just a year ago when I was here last. A very spiritual community. In the short time I have been here, we have enjoyed wonderful healthy fare at lovely restaurants (I love to EAT when I travel), grabbed a cup of java at the local gathering place, squezzed in a yoga class, attended a spiritual book club, and met lots of great people.
Deborah Lee of Four Winds Farm (who many of you met watching her U-Tube Video still available on the sidebar) has been so supportive! Thank you Deborah. Having never met before, we became fast friends! She is hosting my next Soul Salon tonight, and will have the Open House for her new facility tomorrow evening! It will be a BARN Raiser for sure. www.four-winds-farm.com
We attended an Herb Class with Deborah yesterday and I learned so much I am ready to go home and gather seeds for next spring! Many of the attendees are small farmers, lovingly tending the soil, raising their goats, rabbits, in the Blessing Way. We even enjoyed duck eggs for lunch! Truly the land of milk & honey…
I love the Heartland. Riding the train downstate, I didn’t want to miss a moment. This time of year when the corn has been cut, you can see forever. Seeing the farms and silos, I was truly brought home to the richness & abundance of this land. And the soul of the people who love the land so much.
Thank you all for your welcoming embrace. I am looking forward to tonight and Soul-cializing with many of you and hope to return soon.
